The Museum
The 'Betuws fruitteeltmuseum' offers you a century of history about the fruit.
Imagine yourself in the time of the way the harvest fruit a century ago. You'll see and hear the way they lived in the year 1910 and you'll see an auction from 1940 till 1950. There are also specific materials like pruning tools and machines which sort the fruit. Thats not all! You'll also see various old tools from a century ago.
The Harvest
Apples and pears that could be well kept for a long time, were placed in the attic. Mostly they cut the sweet apples in pieces and let them dry a long time. The dried apples were stored in tin drums and later soaked in water and proccesed into stew. You could also eat it with syrop or brauwn sugar. For many it was a delight! These and other story you can see in our museum.
Openinghours
It is opened from Easter till the 1st of October, but only for groups bigger dan 20 persons. You can get a free informatie flyer at the reception.
Tavern, Restaurant & terrace 'de Appel'.
There is not only a museum but also catering facilities. there is place for 150 persons in the cozy restaurant. When the weather is beautifull you could take a place at the cozy terrace. There are attractive arrangements for groups.
Other activities.
If you want to have a very nice day you could go to the museum and after the visit take a try at our mini-golf court, or follow a flower arranging workshop, play fruit bingo or watch a movie about fruit harvest.
